At Avanta Clinic LLC, we have implemented Telehealth Encounters to take care of our patients.

Appointments suitable for Telehealth:

  • COVID-19 and/or flu-like symptoms

Appointments that need in-office visit:

  • Annual Physicals/Preventative Visits

  • Acute conditions requiring a physical exam and/or office based testing (e.g. Abdominal pain, chest pain)

Conducting a Telehealth Visit

Hardware Requirements

  • Access to a modern computer/smartphone/tablet with camera and microphone

  • Running the latest Windows or Mac OS operating system

  • Latest version of any web browser (Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox)

  • Broadband Internet Connection

Telehealth Workflow:

  • You will receive a link via email or text message on your phone to a private (HIPAA complaint) video session.

  • Please click the link to start the session at your appointment time.

  • A Medical Assistant will join the session, check you in, collect copay or outstanding balance and verify your information (pharmacy, lab, medication, allergies etc).

    • If your insurance has changed, your new insurance will be collected,

    • We will require you to hold your new insurance card up to the camera so that we can take a photo and enter it in the medical record.

    • (For security purpose, the photo is not stored on the device and is sent directly to the EHR).

  • Once check-in is complete, your provider will join the session to conduct the Telehealth visit. At the end of the visit:

    • Any new prescriptions or refills will be sent electronically to your pharmacy.

    • Any labs and referral orders will be sent to you by regular mail.

  • After the visit is complete, a Medical Assistant will call you on the phone to schedule a follow up visit if needed.

You can find more details about the Telehealth workflow in the attached document from Athenahealth (our Electronic Health Record company).

Telehealth FAQ

Will my insurance cover Telehealth encounters?

Almost all insurances are covering Telehealth during the public health emergency period.

There are a few insurance plans (e.g. employer sponsored plants) that may NOT cover telehealth. We have no way of confirming this unless you call your insurance and verify coverage.

How much will a Telehealth encounter cost?

Telehealth encounters are reimbursed by insurance companies at the same rate as in-office visits.

Copay and/or deductible will apply per your insurance policy.
